American Corner - Tamale

The Ghana – US Resource Center is a partnership between the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy and the Institute of Local Government Studies. The Center provides access to current and reliable information about the U.S. via book collections, the Internet, and through local programming to the general public. Sponsored jointly by the U.S. Embassy and a host country organization, American Corners, such as the Ghana - US Resource Center, serves as an information outpost similar to a public library reference service. The multi-media, book and periodical collections are open and accessible. Associated reading or meeting rooms are made available to host program events and activities (i.e. author readings, films, speaker programs, workshops, meetings, and exhibits). The Center also provides information on how to study in the U.S.

The primary function of the Center is to make information about the U.S. available to the Ghanaian public. The Center consists of a collection of books about the U.S. including reference titles, works of fiction, business resouces and government publications. The Center also provides access to U.S. information through supervised Internet access, audio and video products, CDs, and CD-ROMS. Access to the Center's collection is free and open to all interested citizens of Ghana.
