Emergency Appointments
The US Embassy is committed to assisting applicants in their times of need. Applicants who need to travel to the United States urgently (in most cases within the next five (5) business days) due to the following reasons:
- Emergency medical treatment, as well as any persons desiring to travel in support (such as parent caring for child)
- Student and exchange visitor
- Emergency business travel
- Family emergency, such as death
- Other emergency (appearance in U.S. court)
NOTE: We have a very limited number of emergency appointment slots and regret that we are unable to grant all requests for emergency appointments.
To request an emergency appointment, please send an email to nivaccra@state.gov stating the exact nature of you or your family’s emergency. You will receive notification from our office if your request is approved with instructions on when to appear for your interview. NOTE: Once your email is sent, you should receive two “automatic” responses from us; if you did not receive our automatic responses then we did not receive your email.
NOTE: In the interest of fairness, if you do not show up for your scheduled emergency appointment, you will not be able to request another emergency appointment within the next six (6) months. No exceptions will be made to this policy.
