Visa Inquiries

The U.S. Consular Section in Accra is committed to fast and courteous communication.  Please scroll below to find out how you locate general visa information, and/or receive help with case-specific nonimmigrant and immigrant visa inquiries.

If you are a U.S. citizen looking for information about non-immigrant visas  for someone in Ghana, please send an email to nivaccra@state.gov.   You should receive an automatic reply acknowledging receipt of your email, and a response to your email within 5-7 business days.

Do not send personal documents, i.e. bank statements to our offices.  We do not return documents received in the mail and we cannot take responsibility for those sensitive documents.

Nonimmigrant Visa Case Inquiries

Please include in your correspondence/email the following:

  • Your full name
  • Provide the type of visa you are requesting
  • State whether you are the applicant or some other concerned party (please note that due to privacy laws we cannot release information to third parties)
  • Clearly state your question or concern in the subject (such as emergency appointment request, etc)

Immigrant Visa Case Inquiries 

If your inquiry is regarding Immigration visas, please send an email to ivdvaccra@state.gov.

Please include in your correspondence/email the following:

  • Your full name
  • Your case number (should be a 10 digit number such as ACC2007123456)
  • State whether you are the applicant or the petitioner
  • Clearly state your question or concern in the subject  line (such as Scheduling Question or DNA Question)
